The unauthorised opening of a dental clinic in Dubai caused a traffic jam on Al Wasl Road. According to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the clinic announced prizes and giveaways, including television sets and mobile phones, without following "advertising protocols".
The DHA has vowed to take legal action against the clinic for carrying out a "marketing and promotional campaign without getting a final approval" from the authority's Health Regulation Sector to begin operations.
"All Dubai health facilities should follow federal and local guidelines for regulatory processes including all marketing and promotional guidelines. This is in the interest of patient protection, in line with international best practices and ensures the health sector in Dubai follows ethical standards," the DHA said. "The DHA provides continuous support and guidance to health establishments in Dubai and it considers the private sector to be its partner to provide high-quality accessible healthcare to the community and visitors."
