A riot of colours erupted as thousands of residents came dressed as superheroes for a run at the Dubai Autodrome. Just as the sun rose on Saturday, residents made their way to the sixth edition of The Color Run presented by Daman.
Families, children, fit squads and work besties were seen dancing, skipping and running their way through the five-kilometre route in their capes. Covered from head to toe in an array of colours, they received their medals at the finish line.
Christian Moufarrej, event director, said: "Each year, we are inspired and encouraged by the thousands of runners of all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels, who come together to mark what we know worldwide as the 'Happiest 5k on the Planet'. This year is no different. With the support of Daman, we brought out the hero in each of our participants, and achieved our aim of inspiring others to stay fit and active, and enjoy a long, healthy and happy life."
Since its inception globally in 2012, the run has become a worldwide phenomenon, continuing to innovate the 5k paint race genre each year. Over six million people from 35 countries have taken part in the run, collectively donating $5 million to charity. This year, the run contributed a portion of every entry to a local charity, Friends of Cancer Patients.
