His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain on the sidelines of the Investec Derby Festival at the Epsom Downs Racecourse on Saturday. Sheikh Mohammed and the Queen discussed ways to bolster ties of friendship and cooperation. They also spoke about the Derby, one of the greatest flat races in the world, which was first staged in 1780.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of Sheikh Mohammed, also attended the race.

Godolphin's Laugh Aloud, ridden by James Doyle, won the 1,700 metre Princess Elizabeth stakes (Group 3). Sheikh Hamdan received the prize amid applause. - Wam
