Paid parking is set to be introduced at Al Barsha Heights in Dubai after the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) signed an agreement with the Tecom Group to operate the parking spaces in the area from Saturday, November 17.

Residents will be charged Dh4 per hour, or Dh2 for half an hour, the RTA said.

"The parking zone of Al Barsha Heights shall bear Code 'A'. RTA's seasonal parking cards are valid for use as well," said Osama Al Safi, Director of Parking at RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency.

"This agreement... stems from RTA's keenness to improve the parking services all over Dubai and contributes to the desired integrated traffic system, through encouraging people to use public transport modes, and nsuring the smooth flow in parking spaces," he added.

"At Tecom, we always seek to cooperate with various public entities in Dubai, especially RTA, to support their vision and plans to facilitate the life of citizens and residents. Under this context, we are collaborating with RTA in support of its efforts to carry out its mission and upgrade the traffic system in the Emirate of Dubai," said Abdulla Belhoul, chief commercial officer, Tecom Group.
