Dubai Airports will conduct an emergency exercise today (Wednesday) at Dubai World Central (DWC), the second airport of the emirate.
The exercise, which is expected to run from 2pm to 5pm, will measure the preparedness of all relevant emergency response agencies and evaluate the emergency response capabilities and implementation strategies at DWC.
Dubai Airport said the exercise is in accordance with General Civil Aviation Authority regulations and in compliance with international standards.
During this time, Dubai World Central will continue to operate as normal.
Al Maktoum International is the main part of Dubai World Central. The airport, which opened to passenger traffic in 2013, aims to be one of the worlds' biggest, but now only handles a fraction of Dubai's passenger traffic.
The airport is being built in phases and is expected to eventually handle more than 200 million passengers a year, more than twice the current capacity of primary airport Dubai International where Emirates airline is based.
Passenger traffic at Al Maktoum airport in the third-quarter jumped 26 per cent to 119,000 passengers.
