To spread awareness of the new road safety rules and general awareness on traffic laws, the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) recently hosted a "safety first awareness session" organised by the Dubai Police in association with Pakistan Consulate Dubai. The event was a part of Dubai Police safety awareness campaign under the theme of "No Safety Know Pain - Know Safety No Pain.

It was the first time Pakistan community members interacted face to face with the Dubai Police and asked them about the newly introduced traffic fines and laws. About 100 members of Pakistani community from different walks of life attended the event that saw First Lieutenant Hamdan Ahmed Al Muhairi from the Dubai Police as  the chief guest.

Dubai Police officer Omer Usman conducted an interactive session and highlighted Dubai Police initiatives to promote road safety. In his talk, he also identified dangerous habits of drivers that can lead to major accidents. Mobile phones and social media are major challenges to road safety now-a-days, he added.

The aim of awareness campaign is to share the safe driving tips among the community members and awareness about the rules and regulation of the driving. "One of the major causes of road accident is the use of mobile phones during driving, this not only put their lives in danger but also public lives on risk and leads to fatal accidents," he said.

Asma Ali Awan, Welfare Attaché Pakistan Consulate Dubai thanked Dubai Police, Pakistan Association Dubai and community members for the enlightening sessio. "Pakistan Consulate will organise such events on a larger scale in association with the collaboration of PAD and Dubai Police," she added.
