The Cabinet has released a resolution that introduces a number of amendments to the Civil Procedure Code, which aim to streamline operations and improve judicial services.
The amendments include the "unification of procedures" in all civil courts across the UAE, and it comes with the necessary flexibility to implement court decisions in accordance with the requirements of each judicial body.
The Cabinet decision, which falls in line with UAE Vision 2021 and Centennial Strategy 2071, is a product of concerted efforts among federal and local authorities within the Government Accelerators platform.
Part of the new regulation are items related to the one-day court, which targets to complete processes in just 15 days from the date of registration.
Keeping pace with technological developments, the regulation also maps out electronic registration procedures and the steps involved in issuing verdicts and orders via digital channels.
The Ministry of Justice has been working closely with the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, the Dubai Courts, the Ras Al Khaimah Courts and the DIFC Courts to introduce the amendments within 100 days. It drafted the regulation in coordination with the Supreme Committee of Dubai Legislation, the Judicial Councils and the Military Court.
