A Ugandan has allegedly committed suicide inside a Metro station in Dubai. The incident was reported around 2pm on Wednesday inside Noor Bank Metro station.
Prima facie, the police believe the man committed suicide. His relatives told the police that he was facing some financial difficulties and had tried to commit suicide earlier.
An eyewitnesses told Khaleej Times that when he was on the escalator at the Metro station, he heard a loud thud. "After about 10 seconds, I saw an African on the ground, covered in blood," said the eyewitness.
The police arrived at the site in record time, and he was rushed to the hospital, the witness added.
Another eyewitness said the incident happened in a "fraction of a second". "We saw the man coming from the train platform. He was accompanied by someone who seemed to be a relative." The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) took to Twitter to announce that service was now back to normal at the station:
#Notice: Dubai Metro service is now back to normal at Nour Bank metro station. Thanks for your cooperation.
