Hamdan calls on people to join 'Day for Dubai'

Dubai - All categories are further sub-divided and residents have the option of choosing whatever volunteering activity suits their particular schedules.

'Day for Dubai' is Dubai Crown Prince's new message to residents asking them to volunteer, even if it's once in a year, and show what one day of giving can achieve for the people and community.
Just a few days after the 30-day fitness challenge given by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai Government, ended, he sent out text messages to Dubai residents on Thursday morning, asking them to join the movement and become part of the community to volunteer.
The message read: "Join me on www.dayyfordubai.com to reinforce Dubai's position as a global city of giving and as a centre of tolerance and compassion."
The message provides a link to the app called 'Day for Dubai' which gives 14 categories for volunteering. Some of them include children and youth, for people of determination, health, elderly and many more. The app is available for both Apple and android users and can also be accessed on the web.
All categories are further sub-divided and residents have the option of choosing whatever volunteering activity suits their particular schedules.
It also gives the options of upcoming activities about to take place in Dubai such as Dubai Marathon, World Government Summit, UAE National Sports Day and many more.
A message about the day also reads: "Day for Dubai - a novel initiative to show what one day of giving can achieve. Honouring the humanitarian legacy of our founding father in 2018, the Year of Zayed, Day for Dubai encourages everyone to share the gift of time by dedicating at least one day of the year to volunteering - giving back to those in need, improving and maintaining our city and our community. Giving can take on many forms including but not limited to volunteering your time, your skills, your passion and your compassion. Together, we can make Dubai the most giving city in just one day." 
A number of residents, companies and organisations responded to Sh Hamdan's call and pledged to make a difference.
@CDA_Dubai @UAEmGov @DubaiPressClub were among the organisations that called upon people on Twitter to volunteer and make a difference.
