Girl students in the UAE outshone boys as the Kerala Higher Secondary Examination Board (KHSE Board) declared its Class 12th results on Thursday .
In the UAE, 597 students from eight schools appeared for the examination and 573 of them got eligibility for higher studies.
Hajara Ibrahim, a science stream student at the The Model School Abu Dhabi, stood first in the UAE with 1186 marks (98.8%). Speaking to Khaleej Times, Hajara said: "I scored the best in Mathematics and Hindi. I think this has just brought me a step closer to my ambition of becoming a doctor someday. I am so happy that my hard work paid off because it is not an individual effort but a combined effort of my teachers and parents."
On her mantra to success, she said: "Just work hard, trust yourself and pray to God and that's all you need to succeed."
Dr VV Abdul Kader, principal of the school, said all the school registered a 100 per cent success.
"As many as 130 students from The Model School Abu Dhabi sat for the examination in March, of which 78 students were from the science stream and 52 students from the commerce stream. All the 130 students have passed and are eligible for higher studies. In the Gulf region, only 32 students secured A+ in all the papers and 18 of them are from our school," said.
In the Commerce stream, Heena vaheed Sheeja of N.I. Model School, Sharjah, ranked first in the UAE with 1159 marks (96.6%) and  Raneem Hamdan and Aisha Hiba of The Model School, Abu Dhabi, came second with 1155 marks (96.3%).
For Commerce topper Aisha Hiba, it was the revision exams that helped her score well. "We had about four revision exams before we appeared for the main board exam and the portions divided into four and that's what helped me prepare well. Before every revision exam, I worked quite hard and we also did a lot of group studies which was quite helpful. So all my friends have come out with flying colours and I am quite happy about it," she said.
New Indian Model School, Sharjah, recorded a 100 per cent pass rate. "Out of the 64 students who appeared for the exam, five students scored A plus in all subjects. The girls outshone the boys in both Science and Commerce streams," said principal Prof Nusky Jamal.
