The Dubai Police honoured an Emirati man who returned Dh3,000 in cash left behind by a motorist at a petrol station.
In a Facebook post by the Dubai Police, 33-year-old Omar Abdullah Al Danhani immediately approached the petrol station staff once he saw the cash. The money was left behind at an ATM located in the station.
Acting quickly, he contacted the Dubai Police command and control room in hopes of finding the owner of the money. Fortunately surveillance footage from the petrol station captured the car's number plate which helped police track down the car and its owner. Police was able to retrieve the motorist's mobile number which Al Danhani used to get in touch with the motorist.
The man got his money back thanks to Al Danhani's efforts. He later told the 33-year-old Emirati that he forgot it because he was in a hurry to reach home before the rush hour.
Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, called for the Emirati to be honoured for his noble and honest act.
