Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, lights up in the colours of the Indian national flag tonight.
According to a statement from Emaar, the Burj Khalifa will showcase the Indian colours at around 9:10pm. This is to mark the occasion of India's Independence Day.

Earlier today, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Indian citizens. "Independence Day greetings to the people of India. Jai Hind!" Modi said in a tweet.

In the UAE, the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, sent congratulatory messages to President Ram Nath Kovind of India on the occasion.
Google also marked India's Independence Day with a colourful truck art doodle, featuring images of some of the country's most iconic plants and animals.
