A teacher at a private school was dismissed for assaulting a Grade 7 student in his classroom in Dubai.
One of the student's classmates told Emarat Al Youm that the child had been trying to go to the bathroom and placed his hand on the door to leave, but their teacher refused.
When he tried to push aside his teacher's hand, the man held him by his neck and tried to strangle him, while assaulting the child. Students and teachers rushed to rescue the child.    
The mother of the student said she received a call that her child had been assaulted by his teacher. When she reached the school, she found that her son was in the school clinic, feeling nauseous. His face bore bruises.
"They gave me a medical report on what had transpired with my son," she added.
The school principal said: "A member of our faculty was involved in an incident with a student of Grade 7 on February 27. The teacher was suspended pending the investigation and then dismissed. His visa was revoked and he has been deported. The child remains with the school and is doing well."
