Dubai students will be able to get industry exposure as schools and companies can now partner up to give pupils work experience.
The new initiative falls under the Knowledge and Human Development Authority's (KHDA) Rahhal programme, which aims to take the emirate's education sector 10 years ahead.
It was announced on Sunday (June 23) that GEMS FirstPoint School - The Villa has partnered with German automation firm Siemens to give the schools' students real industry experience.
The company has provided technology to the school, which will allow students to get work experience while on campus.
"People talk about jobs of the future but through this we will be able to bring the experience forward to not just university students, but also to school students," the chairman of KHDA, Dr Abdulla Al Karam, said.
This is a new addition to the Rahhal project. Other ones include part-time schooling, homeschooling and short school days.
