For the love of  Urdu language, students of the Media Science Department at SZABIST University, Dubai, organised a vibrant event on Tuesday.

The event was titled "Urdu Meri Zaban" and had various activities including mime, interactive quiz sessions on Urdu language from the audience, a song performance and impressive exhibition of a short play "Urdu Ki Yaad Mein" performed by the students of the department.

The last part of the event was a short play written and directed by Shafaq Zehra, faculty media science department. Performed by the students, they displayed how the Urdu language is saturated with foreign words and proper dialect has become near to impossible.

It showed how Counselor Sahib (played by Usama Zafar) is struggling to write his first speech and Urdu (Sania Kiani) is teaching him the correct grammar through humour and a deep message.

The play took audience into a journey of self-realization and educated them about how the language should be spoken in a correct manner.

Head of Campus, Dr M.N.Brohi appreciated the efforts of the students and thanked the guests. Among others, special guests on the occasion were Asad Raza Khan, CEO Tall Tales Productions, Dubai, Sabiha Majgaonkar, Festival Director for Short and Sweet and Jimish Thakkar, C-founder and drama educator at The Hive.
