The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs - Dubai (GDRFA - Dubai) has opened a new smart Amer centre to allow residents to finish visa and residency transactions under one roof.
The new Amer Services Centre is located on the Etihad Road next to Enoc petrol station and is the third such centre to offer multiple government services in one place.
The first centre was opened in Al Muhaisnah 4 in May, while the second was inaugurated in October at Al Kifaf Municipality Centre. Major-General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the GDRFA, said 15 such centres are set to open before the end of the year to serve different densely-populated areas.
Fifty Amer centres are scheduled to replace 600 typing centres in the long run. From November 1, typing centres in the UAE stopped processing visa-related services due to repeated violations.
Amer centres are expected to increase efficiency and finish up to 6,000 transactions a day. It will receive and process UAE visa applications and route them to the GDRFA electronically, enabling residents to finish visa transactions without visiting the GDRFA headquarters or its external branches.
The smart centres provide a range of services including entry issuing entry permits and visit visas; issuing or renewing residency visas; visa cancellation; and Emirates ID services, in addition to other related government services provided by entities like the Dubai Courts, Dubai Municipality and Department of Economic Development.
"We are working closely with government departments to develop comprehensive services that enable them to complete their transactions in one place. It goes in line with the government's vision of creating happiness among residents and citizens," added Maj-Gen Al Marri.
