Dubai Municipality warns against home-made 'slime'

Dubai - The toys may contain borax, washing powder, glue and coloured materials.

In response to a video clip on social media about making Slime Play with 'Magic Dough' and its impact on children, the Public Health and Safety Department in Dubai Municipality warned of the danger of children and their parents preparing the game in their homes.

Eng. Redha Salman, Director of Public Health and Safety Department, stressed the health damage due to the use of dangerous chemicals and toxic solutions such as borax, washing powder, glue and coloured materials during the preparation of the game and its negative and serious effects on public health and child safety.

He also talked about the risk of buying the game from unknown and anonymous sources that do not meet the health and safety standards adopted for children's toys. "Parents should observe and monitor children less than three years and older playing such games which may be harmful to them because they are accustomed to eating and swallowing small pieces of these products," said Salman.

He appealed to all individuals and establishments to quickly report and contact with the department regarding the safety of consumer products through different communication methods.

The official clarification comes within the "Confirmed News" initiative launched on Dubai Municipality portal, which aims to reduce the circulation of rumors that are spread through the means of social media and to correct false news and malicious rumors and address them quickly.
