Visitors to Dubai Garden Glow (DGG) can now enjoy an entire space of gleaming art in the dark besides experiencing a minus 8°C spot and dinosaur roars.
Open to the public from Monday for its fourth season at Zabeel Park, the DGG features a new Art Park with huge illuminating installations of animals made from 500,000 different types of recyclable glass, porcelain, plastic bottles and dishes.
The Art Park is the fourth addition to the glowing attraction that features an Ice Park with carved illuminating animal sculptures made from 5,000 tonnes of ice at -8 °C, and over 100 animatronic dinosaurs roaring on display.
Mohammed Mubarak Al Mutaiwei, CEO of business development sector at Dubai Municipality (DM), said the glow park's theme this year is Glowing Safari to tackle global warming.
The handmade animal structures are illuminated with over 10 million LED lights and yards of recycled luminous fabric that took 100 days from 500 artists to make.
"The best way to remind residents and tourists on importance of environment protection and wildlife preservation is through creative art," said Al Mutaiwei.
He said since its inception in 2015, the glow-in-the-dark park has been attracting half a million visitors annually, with more people expected to visit this year.
Officials said 200 international artists have spent two months to set up the latest attraction that sees a Panda made of tiny recycled glass bottles, camels made from 1,000 CDs and other similar installations of Big Bull, Colorful Swan and King Cobra.
Meanwhile, the popular Dinosaur Park will display new installations and additions for educational purposes.
The Dinosaur Lab showcases the birth of baby dinosaurs and a Dinosaur Museum displays replicas of dinosaur skeletons.
The park shows the extinction of dinosaurs that marked the end of an era.
Other attractions in the Glow Park include the Flower Valley, Glittering Butterfly trail, Happy Forest, Peacock Tunnel, Big Rabbit, Happiness Tree, Happiness Street, Lady Butterfly, Mosquito Family, Lizard Family, Fish Tunnel, in addition to the City of Happiness having a long stretch of 60-70 Hearts and the Flavours of Arabia, which includes a giant traditional teapot.
Al Mutaiwei said the park, located at Gate 6 of Zabeel Park, is open to residents and visitors of all ages and nationalities from 4pm to 12am everyday.
"Garden Glow is a unique example of Dubai Municipality's collaboration with private sector through projects aimed at providing an eco-friendly experience for the whole family, using advanced technology, innovation and creativity," he said.
The entry fee for Dubai Garden Glow is Dh65 including VAT.
Visitors will be charged a separate Dh45 to enjoy the Ice Park, with thermal jackets to be provided on the freezing site.
