Deported man sneaks into UAE, jailed for using brother's ID

Dubai - He tried to evade arrest when stopped by a police lieutenant by showing his brother's Emirates ID.

A man, who had been deported from the UAE and sneaked illegally back, has been sentenced to six months in jail for producing his brother's ID to a police officer.
The 31-year-old Pakistani driver had been banned from entering the UAE but somehow managed to infiltrate through Oman illegally. He tried to evade arrest when stopped by a police lieutenant by showing his brother's Emirates ID.
He was found guilty by the Court of First Instance of using another person's authentic personal document and impersonation of another person during a police interrogation. He will be deported at the end of his six-month imprisonment.
The incident took place on October 23, last year, and was reported to Al Qusais police station.
"I arrested the defendant around 11pm on October 23, 2017, in Al Baraha area. He showed an ID card upon my order. After taking him into custody and checking his card, we found it belonged to his brother," a police lieutenant told the prosecutor.
The lieutenant added that the accused confessed he used his brother's identification document to mislead the police as he had been deported and illegally infiltrated later though Oman.
