75 accident victims airlifted in Dubai last year

Dubai - The Air Wing teams reached within 15 minutes in 90 per cent of the accidents cases where the locations were 40km near the Air Wing centre, transporting 60 injured to hospitals.

As many as 75 injured people were airlifted after accidents in Dubai last year, according to a top official at the Dubai Police.
Colonel Khalfan Salem Al Mazrouei, director of the Air Wing of the Dubai Police, said the wing has implemented 89 air patrols, 59 official missions and 28 search missions in addition to seven other missions including patient transfers and 70 training missions. 
"The number of wounded transported by the air wing reached 75 - 49 Asians, 11 Emiratis, six Arabs, three GCC nationals, two Europeans, two Australians and two Africans."
He explained that the emergency cases were handled by the Air Wing teams according to the areas they were stationed - 39 accidents in Jebel Ali, 12 in Al Barsha, seven in Al Rashidiya, six in Al Faqa, and four cases each in Bur Dubai and Al Habab.
Pilot Issam ibn Hafez, acting head of the air rescue department, said the Air Wing rushed to the accident sites. "The number of accident missions on the Sheikh Zayed Road and Emirates Road reached 18 and 11 accidents happened on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road, in addition to accidents on Al Aweer Street towards Hatta and Jebel Ali Street towards Dubai Fountains. There were five accidents on the Dubai-Al Ain Road and Al Yalayis Road. The team also helped in rescue of the victims of two accidents on Al Khail Road." 
Lt-Col Ibn Hafez explained that 22 accidents took place between 2pm and 6pm. "Around 14 accidents took place between 10am and 2pm and 13 accidents between 10pm and 2am, 12 accidents between 6am and 10am, and four accidents happened between 2am to 6am.
"The Air Wing teams reached within 15 minutes in 90 per cent of the accidents cases where the locations were 40km near the Air Wing centre, transporting 60 injured to hospitals. In locations far from 40km, the team reached within 30 minutes in 95 per cent of the cases.
