Dubai - The police have increased the number of patrols in mountainous areas.

The Dubai Police recorded 581 traffic accidents in the last 24 hours caused by drivers who did not abide by safety measures during rain and changing weather conditions. The police received 12,753 SOS calls during this period.
The police's rescue department confirmed that there were no accidents in the mountain areas. Lt-Col. Ahmad Ateeq Bourguiba, deputy director of search and rescue department, said the police have increased the number of patrols in mountainous areas.
Policemen in these areas are given 4WD bikes, rubber boats and water bicycles to deal with any kind of emergencies.
Colonel Turki Abdulrahman bin Fares, director of the command and control centre, urged all drivers to follow the safety guidelines issued by police departments across the country during changing weather conditions.
