Drone fanatics braved the dusty and wet weather of Dubai to showcase their Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) inventions.
The 3rd annual UAE Drones for Good Awards are taking place at Dubai Internet City, with a prize of $1million. More than 1,600 companies are taking part this year.
Dr. Suyong Choi, one of the participants in the competition, said his surveillance drone is UAE weather proof.
"Our drone can go at an altitude of 200 metres and that is one of the altitudes ever built. The drone also will not be impacted by any kind of dust or rain, making it safe from this kind of weather."
Several other robotics and drones fans also braved the weather to have a look at the submissions, one of which included robotic inventions that aids handicapped people.
Here's an invention called Twiice, designed for paraplegic women and people with disabilities. Video by Sarwat Nasir/ Khaleej Times.

On display during the two-day competition will be drone applications for civil defense, search & rescue, healthcare, security surveillance and location delivery.  On the other hand, the UAE AI & Robotics Award for Good supports innovation in the artificial intelligence and robotics sector.
