A conclave in Dubai today will bring together thought leaders from South Asia to explore sustainable solutions for promoting peace and prosperity in the region.
WION's 'Unleashing the Power of South Asia' conclave will be inaugurated by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, who is the chief guest and guest of honour.
Indian ambassador to the UAE, Navdeep Singh Suri, will also be a guest of honour at the event.
Khaleej Times is the International Print Partner of the day-long conclave that will dwell on subjects that matter to the emerging economies of South Asia.
These include 'counter terrorism - the Indian perspective in a multi-polar world', and 'uprooting state-sponsored terrorism and how it is imperative for peace in South Asia'.
Former Indian Army chief General Bikram Singh will be in conversation with former Pakistani ambassador Husain Haqqani. Spiritual guru, Sadhguru, will talk about the need for economic cooperation among South Asian powers.
Namal Rajapaksa, a lawmaker from Sri Lanka; former Bangladesh minister and ruling Awami League member Hasan-ul-Haq Inu; and South Asia expert Michael Kugelman will discuss the future of South Asia.
Soft power plays a key role in building alliances and strategic partnerships.
And sports and entertainment play an important part in realising this.
On one of the panels, television host and international journalist Riz Khan will moderate a discussion on titled 'Is the face of media and entertainment changing?' Indian cricketer VVS Laxman will share his thoughts on the dominance of Indian cricket.
The conclave is expected to emerge as a platform for South Asian countries to build regional cooperation.
