The Ras Al Khaimah Municipality has caught a bakery - that had been earlier ordered shut - for running the business during late hours.
The bakery had earlier been ordered shut for flouting health and hygiene rules.
The RAK Municipality had been alerted about the illegal activities of the errant bake shop based in RAK Downtown, according to a top official with the civic body.
Munzir bin Shukr Al Zaabi, Director-General of the RAK Municipality, said the municipality ordered closure of the bakery after it was found involved in many health and institutional violations.
"Failing to amend its position, the bakery manager opted to work late after midnight to mislead civic inspectors and escape the closure order. However, the bakery was caught as raids are intensified day and night across the emirate."
The RAK inspectors paid a surprise inspection visit to the bakery while illegally working around 1am, he added.
"The municipality will send a special committee to check if the bakery has made the amendments required and met the set conditions."
Bin Shukr explained that some dirt was ound at the erring bakery where raw materials such as flour, sugar, milk, and salt were improperly stored.
"The bakery has been given a grace period to amend its position. If it fails to do that, it will be permanently shut down and the licence will be terminated."
