The project was done to increase the feeling of safety and security in the emirate.
A project to light up dark areas has helped the Ajman Police reduce crime rate in the emirate by 64.3 per cent as compared to last year, officials said on Saturday.
Major-General Sheikh Sultan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, said the initiative sought to increase the feeling of safety and security by lighting up dark areas in the emirate in partnership with property owners.
Lt.-Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of the police's Criminal Investigation Department, said the initiative involved 290 buildings in Al Jerf Industrial Area, New Sanaya, Al Numaiya, Al Jerf and Rashidiya.
