Advanced fire prevention system in Sharjah

Sharjah - The second such forum will be held in the second quarter of 2018

The Sharjah Civil Defence has instructed contracting and consulting companies working in the safety and security fields to implement the installation of the new, advanced fire prevention systems mandatorily.
The new systems are designed to prevent suffocation and loss of lives during fire accidents, especially in the light of the tragic fire incident that claimed the lives of 7 children on January 22 in Fujairah.
During a meeting organised by the Sharjah Civil Defence, 100 representatives working in safety and prevention consulting and contracting companies were familiarised with the new requirements surrounding the adoption of fire prevention plans. They were also briefed on the need to update and regularly maintain fire equipment and implement it using smart technologies. Lt-Colonel Sami Al Naqbi, director of the Sharjah Civil Defence, said the forum comes within the framework of objectives established by the Ministry of Interior and the General Command of the Civil Defence in Sharjah, to provide the highest customer service levels and strengthen the community partnership.
The second such forum will be held in the second quarter of 2018, which will include developers and investors, to familiarise them with the new rules in fire safety and prevention, in order to preserve lives and property.
Lt Colonel Ibrahim Saif, director of Civil Protection and Safety Department at the Sharjah Civil Defence, presented the new modified procedures to follow in the system, adding that the department will not approve any future blueprints or issue certificates if the new safety requirements and modified fire protection system are not accounted for.
