A hospital in Abu Dhabi has been shut down for flouting healthcare rules.
The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DoH) said it ordered for the closure of the hospital for a period of one month after their investigations found several violations at the hospital.
Authorities said on their Instagram page on Saturday that the decision to shut down the health facility followed recent audit results of all hospitals across Abu Dhabi.
"The results from the audit indicated that there were several violations at the hospital which necessitated temporary closure of the health facility for a period of one month and can be renewed for a period not exceeding six months from Thursday (May 2, 2019). This is according to Article 21, paragraph (2) of Federal Law No. 4 of 2015, concerning private health facilities," a statement issued by DoH on Instagram said.
The department explained that it was keen on the health and safety of patients in health facilities across the Capital.
"All patients that were admitted at the hospital have been transferred to other health facilities in the emirate in a smooth and proper manner to continue receiving better health care services based on their conditions," the statement added.
"The Department of Medical Operations, which operates around the clock has ensured a convenient and safe transfer of all patients."
The department has emphasized that patients' comfort and the provision of proper medical care services to them is their top priority and that they will not compromise with any health facility violating the law. "We shall continue to be strict on taking precautionary measures against any health facility violating laws to ensure good health services for patients," said authorities.
During the closure period, the department will monitor and follow up on the status of the hospital facility to ensure that there has been an improvement in the quality of health services to be provided to patients before the facility reopens.
The hospital management had declined giving an immediate comment about the temporary closure when Khaleej Times reached out to them on Saturday.
