UAE Police issue guidelines for National Day car decorations

Car decorations "must not obstruct the vision of the driver in any form", according to the specifications announced by the police.

Motorists were urged to stick to the December 6 deadline for decorating their vehicles during the UAE's 47^th National Day celebrations in Abu Dhabi.
According to a statement by the Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) vehicle owners can decorate their cars with appropriate decals from November 25 to December 6. "Drivers who do not comply with the allotted time frames will be fined," the statement added.
The ADP has also prepared a traffic plan to ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers alike during this time.

The police also specified not to instal flagpoles on vehicles, not to blur or cover number plates on the car, and not to change the vehicle's original paint colour.
Brigadier Khalifa Mohammed Al Khaili, director of the traffic and patrols directorate at the ADP, called the public to adhere to the rules to enhance the spirit of love for the homeland while respecting the law and cooperating with the police.
Al Khaili added that drivers and passengers should not use confetti sprays, and not overcrowd vehicles. He also called on individuals not to stick their bodies out of windows, or ride on top of vehicle roofs. Drivers are also expected not to leave their vehicles, and the use of camels and horses on public roads is also prohibited, the Brig. Al Khaili added.
He urged pedestrians to use designated crossings to ensure their safety, and called on the public not to throw waste items, not to leave skid marks on roads, and not to obstruct the flow of traffic and designated taxi and bus stands.
Al Khaili said that a comprehensive traffic plan was prepared to ensure the safety and security of members of the public during National Day celebrations. The plan includes an increased presence of police patrols within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as well as the use of smart monitoring systems to detect traffic law violations.
