The second annual government meetings that began on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi seek to answer two major questions: Where does the UAE stand today and where does it want to reach in the next 50 years.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said this as he and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, launched seven future national strategies.
The strategies are part of UAE Centennial 2071, which seeks to make the country the best in the world by 2071, when it will mark its 100th anniversary.  Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is pursuing an "integrated methodology" to "deliver the future".
"In so doing, the UAE has been applying best international practices until it has become a role model for development, thanks to decades of hard work and distinction coupled with dynamic paradigm shifts," Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid added.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said the UAE is endeavouring to secure a better tomorrow for its future generations.  "The country is relying on an integrated approach, combining all federal and local government entities, seeking to deliver the future, and adopt a preemptive approach towards its challenges with the ultimate goal of creating a better society."
Main pillars to define UAE
1-Culture and heritage: A strategic framework for the development of the UAE's cultural sector between 2018 and 2031
2-Climate change: A new evaluation to assess climate risks on the UAE's infrastructure
3-E-commerce: Six new initiatives, including a federal platform for e-commerce; framework for licensing e-commerce activities; and standardising multinational e-commerce platforms
4-Transport: Five national initiatives, including a policy to reduce emissions and discovering new smart transportation means
5-Housing: Adopting the latest technology to help raise the quality, safety and sustainability of projects
6-Employment: The national employment strategy 2031 aims to build a knowledge economy
7-Food security: A national scheme that is based on empowering the production of sustainable food by investing in the latest technologies and boost local production
