The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has issued an order to close two restaurants in Abu Dhabi for flouting rules.
The eateries - Melius Restaurant and Mina Gulf Grilled Fish - were shut down for violating rules despite repeated warnings.
The reasons behind shutting down the two establishments were ignoring previous violations, including not meeting the required levels of hygiene, local media reported.
According to the report submitted by the authority, Mina Gulf Grilled Fish will remain closed as long as the establishment fails to correct the offences, which were recorded last March and April.

The violations include leakage of water from the wash basin's drainage pipes, the overlap of areas of food preparation and storage and unhygienic conditions which leads to food contamination.
ADFCA stated that Melius Restaurant was closed due to the expiration of its trade license and that the officials of the establishment failed to renew it on time.
The authority urged the public to report any health violations they might witness by contacting the Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre on the toll-free number 800 555.
