Thousands of people from all walks of life attended Onam celebrations held by Indian Social and Cultural Centre on Friday.
Onasadhya, the grand feast, marking Kerala's most celebrated festival, saw 4,500 people enjoy variety of traditional dishes including parippu, sambar, kaalan, avial, thoran, olan, pachadi, kichadi, koottukari, mango pickle, lime pickle, as well as papadam, plantain chips, sharkara upperi, banana, rasam and buttermilk. There were two sweet puddings to round off the sumptuous spread, all prepared by a special chef flown in from Kerala.
There was the mythical 'king Mahabali', who blessed everyone including Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri, who marked his first Onam in this country.
Adding to the nostalgic feel was live performance of festival and film songs.
