A woman, who had lost all hopes of standing back on her feet due to a disorder, is able to walk again, thanks to a landmark surgery by a team of surgeons at Al Ain Hospital.
Due to severe pain in her neck that spread to her upper and lower limbs, the woman was rendered almost immobile, Al Bayan reported.
She felt devastated and depressed about her condition, until the operation happened and restored her mobility.
After the woman was admitted to the hospital, a series of tests were conducted on her. The tests showed that the patient suffered from severe pressure on the spinal cord that impaired her walking.
A surgical team led by Dr Ziad Al Jayan, consultant of spine surgery at the hospital, performed a complicated surgery to relieve the pressure by removing four cervical discs and replacing them with artificial ones.
The surgery was successful and the patient fully recovered and was able to return back to normal life, Al Jayan told Al Bayan.
