Abu Dhabi Agriculture & Food Safety Authority (Adafsa) issued an order to close two food establishments in Al Ain, Zakhar Restaurant and Confectionary with license number (CN-1102951) and Dafra Sweets with license number (CN-1102951) for violating health codes despite previous warnings.

Thamer Rashed Al Qasemi, Adafsa's spokesperson, said that the administrative closure decisions were the result of both eateries not complying with standard health and food safety codes, 24.ae reported.
Al Qasemi said the two food outlets will remain closed as long as violations are in place. The facilities will only be allowed to resume their work after improving their condition, he added.

Both restaurants failed to maintain general hygiene of the food stored and apply pest control services, exposing the food to insects and rodents.
Al Qasimi urged the public to report any health violations they might witness by contacting the Abu Dhabi Government Contact Centre on the toll-free number 800 555.
