Handheld mobile radars in Abu Dhabi detected over 44,000 speeding violations in October, the police have revealed. The laser radar, called Al Qannas (hunter), is powered by high-resolution digital cameras.
Brigadier Salim bin Barak Al Dhaheri, director of the department of traffic of the external regions, said the police monitor roads to ensure the highest levels of traffic safety.
He said the police also work on raising the awareness of motorists by sharing the most dangerous traffic violations via social media channels.
