Visitors to the Louvre Abu Dhabi on the opening day had a taste of it when the Café Museum served up free food to the utter delight of many.
The free lunch was a 'sorry gesture' from the café for keeping the guests waiting for long due to the rush.
"I was delighted that they fed us for free. First, I thought the waitress is playing a prank on us. But they did not charge me," said Ivona Rizen, a Croatian expat.
Martina Grubisa, another visitor was equally surprised. "We had ordered a salad, a burger and two fresh juices. We had to wait for more than an hour to get our food. But the 'no bill' surprise came as a dessert after our meal.
The café manager said the meal was on them today as customers had to wait for long to get their food on the table. "We are not billing the customers as a sorry gesture. We had served 500 covers by 2:00pm. We are prepared to serve up to 4,000 people today."
"We want to give the Louvre visitors a perfect experience. So, even a small mistake like an unexpected delay in serving food is unacceptable," said the manager.
