The Abu Dhabi Police honoured a young Emirati man for his courage and swift action as he saved a worker from being killed by his colleague during a brawl in the Al Dhafra area of Abu Dhabi.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Marri, in his 20s, had immediately notified the police when he saw an Asian worker holding a kitchen knife and chasing his friend to stab him.
He not just informed the cops, but hurried to intervene when the worker tried to attack his colleague with the knife during a scuffle before the police arrived.
The Emirati grabbed the knife from the agitated worker and saved the man's life, police said.
"The young man had quickly intervened and managed to control the fight. He got hold of the attacker before he could injure the victim," said Brigadier Suhail Saeed Al-Khaili, director of the Dhafra Police Directorate.
Brig Al Khaili felicitated Al Marri for his brave act and preventing a crime.
"The Abu Dhabi Police would like to appreciate the courage demonstrated by the Emirati youth," said Al Khaili.
The Asian worker was arrested for attempting to kill his colleague.
Police have urged people to report all kinds of crimes to authorities for safety and security of the community.
