The terrified driver then phoned the Abu Dhabi Police seeking help as he didn't know what to do next. The cops calmed him down over the phone and told him what to do.
He said that the police patrols traced the driver's location and cleared the road ahead while the officers spoke with him on phone and asked him to fasten his seatbelt properly and use the double indicators.
Captain Issa Al Ghafli, Director of Traffic Section at Al Rahba Police Station said: "The driver was contacted on phone and advised to calm down. He was then given suggestions to help him stop the vehicle, but to no avail."
"A police patrol then drove in front of the speeding vehicle and the driver was instructed to make a slight contact with the patrol vehicle. The driver did this and the vehicle came to a halt."
He added: "The vehicle pulled over on the roadside and the driver was provided with the necessary assistance."
Police have urged motorists to carry out regular maintenance of their vehicles and especially those imported from outside the country in order to avoid such incidents.
