As India mourns its fallen soldiers, the embassy of India in Abu Dhabi will be organising a candle light vigil today (February 17) in honour of the CRPF jawans martyred in a terror attack at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14.
Community members are requested to join the vigil and condolence meet to express solidarity "in this hour of distress," said the embassy.
The vigil will be held at the embassy auditorium at 7pm.
In one of the worst cross-border terror attacks claimed by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-ridden SUV into a moving CRPF convoy comprising 70 vehicles. A total of 49 CRPF personnel were killed in the attack that has been condemned internationally.
Indian ambassador to the UAE, Navdeep Singh Suri said "cowardly terrorist attack has left our nation shocked and angry."
"The sentiment is also shared by the Indian community in the UAE and many have spoken with us about this. The condolence meeting and vigil at our embassy this evening is an occasion for members of the community to come together to share their grief and to express their solidarity with the families of our martyrs," the envoy told Khaleej Times.
