Fireworks will wish you a Happy New Year if you visit Abu Dhabi's Corniche on December 31!
At the corniche, a 10-minute display will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest sentence ever created in fireworks, spelling out "Happy New Year 2019".
The breathtaking fireworks will be displayed using a technique called 'iron sky towers', with the letters reaching a height of 40 metres in diverse colours and configurations.
Crowds can also celebrate in other locations, as spectacular fireworks displays will illuminate the Abu Dhabi sky at the stroke of midnight at the Emirates Palace, Yas Marina and Al Maryah Island, as well as at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, and the Al Dhafra Festival in Madinat Zayed.
At the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival, the New Year's Eve celebrations will include concerts by Eida Al Menhali and Fouad Abdel Wahid, a fireworks show, three-dimensional water and light shows with dazzling lasers.
Among the highlights in Abu Dhabi will be a concert featuring Egyptian pop icon Amr Diab and Lebanese superstar singer Myriam Fares at The Galleria and Promenade on Al Maryah Island, organised by Mubadala. Entry to the prime viewing spots in the main concert area is free but limited to 1,500 visitors on a first-come first-served basis. Other guests will have access to the other areas of the Promenade where they can view the concerts on the large screens on the waterfront.
"We are delighted to bring such a variety of exciting events across the whole emirate of Abu Dhabi to usher in the New Year," Saif Saeed Ghobash, Undersecretary at DCT Abu Dhabi, said. "We are confident that visitors will have an unforgettable experience that will mark the start of a happy and prosperous 2019 for all."
Al Dhafra Festival will also be putting on a special New Year's Eve show with concerts by Arab celebrities. The shows by Khaleeji singers Aryam, Mohamed Al Shehhi and Walid Al Shami will start at 7:00pm until midnight.
