Abu Dhabi Police have urged children to refrain from using fireworks during the forthcoming Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
The force warned that potentially hazardous fireworks are risky for youngsters and can cause serious injuries.
The warning issued on Tuesday is part of Abu Dhabi Police's "Do Not Spoil Our Joy" awareness initiative to educate the public about the dangers of fireworks and to ensure that people celebrate Eid holidays happily.
Brigadier Salem Hamoud Al Baloushi, Director of the Firearms and Explosives Department at Abu Dhabi Police said parents should monitor their children and prevent them from the use of fireworks especially during the last days of Ramadan and Eid holidays.

"Fireworks can cause serious burns if are misused, their toxic fumes can also pose a danger to children," he said.
"Fireworks can potentially cause physical damage as well as environmental pollution."
Lt. Col. Saif Ali Al Hafari Al Ketbi, Head of Commercial Explosives Department at Abu Dhabi Police said: "Illegal use of firecrackers also leads to disorder in the streets and neighbourhoods."
"Parents should educate their children about the seriousness of playing with fireworks and to stop them from buying and using them especially during festive days."
The illegal sale of fireworks and firecrackers to children increases especially during the festive days.
Police have warned that those caught using or selling any kind of firecrackers without being authorised will face punishment.
According to the laws, if a person is caught selling fireworks without a licence, he can be jailed for a period of not less than six months or fined Dh10,000.
