Iconic girl rockers, The Go-Go’s, have inked a new talent deal with Primary Wave Music, which also represents CeeLo Green, Melissa Etheridge and Eric Benet, among others.

“It is so gratifying to still be making music as a group, 36 years after our beginnings as a rag-tag, know-nothing Hollywood punk rock band! To now be represented by such an energetic and forward-thinking company as Primary Wave is both an honour and a blessing,” The Go-Go’s said in a joint statement. “We look forward to a creative and fruitful relationship with Primary Wave and would like to thank all of our fans for their continued support!”

The new deal arrives as the group plans to begin recording their fifth studio album and headline the “Replay America” tour this summer. The tour launches on on Saturday July 5 in Clearwater, Florida. Patty Smyth with Scandal, Martha Davis and The Motels, Cutting Crew and Naked Eyes are also on the tour.

The Go-Go’s are also being inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame in June during the venue’s 15th Anniversary, alongside Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, John Legend and Liza Minnelli.

The group hit the music scene in the 1980s as the only all-female band to write their own songs and play their own instruments at the time. Their first album, Beauty and the Beat, was the No. 1 album on the Billboard charts for six consecutive weeks and sold three million copies, making it one of the most successful debut albums of all time.

“The Go-Go’s are the foundation of early ‘80s rock music and continue to be a historic example and role model for female artists today,” said Deb Klein, manager at Primary Wave Music. “It is a true honour to be working with such a legendary and talented group!”

Their last studio album was 2001’s God Bless The Go-Go’s, which hit the Billboard 200 and peaked at No. 57.

The current Go-Go’s lineup is Jane Wiedlin, Belinda Carlisle, Charlotte Caffey and Gina Schock. Kathy Valentine left the group in 2013.
