Adpated from the famed book by Robyn Davidson, Tracks sees Mia Wasikowska portray the travel writer in her famous 1977 Australian desert trek.
Setting off from Alice Springs with photographer Rick Smolan (Adam Driver), four camels and a dog, Davidson undertakes a gruelling 1,700-mile journey across the vast and uncompromising Outback.
American director John Curran (The Painted Veil) helms the $12 million story, which has won acclaim for its performances and cinematography.
“Curran’s film captures the ravishing emptiness of the landscape and the elemental perils facing a strong young woman,” said Mary Corliss of Time Magazine.
“It is an attractive, heartfelt work, and Wasikowska carries it with grace,” said Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian.
Tracks currently has an 84% rating on rottentomatoes.com and a 7.3/10 rating on imdb.com.
