Dressing for work may not sound exciting, but it doesn't have to be boring. Appearances do matter - at least at work it does. The way you dress can say a lot about you. So why not dress for success.

The right balance between professional and comfortable is hard to achieve but not impossible. There are many ways to incorporate the trendy look and keep them work appropriate. We decipher a few looks that will totally inspire your work mode.

Know your style: While it's important to dress for the occasion, it's also important to know what looks good on you.
Try: Coloured shirts and blouses, rather than mandatory collared button-downs. Choose solid colours or muted patterns like stripes or checks, and avoid low-cut shirts or bright patterns.

Show off: Don't shy away from wearing sleeveless and skirts if you have toned arms and legs. Well, even if you don't, who cares? You be you.
Try: A sleeveless top with a romantic ruffled collar, high-waisted pants that highlight your waist and make your legs appear super-long, while a masculine, double-breasted blazer-inspired dress is forever classy, chic and sexy.

High quality basics: When you have 'nothing to wear' moments, turn to the foundation that builds your wardrobe.
Try: A silk blouse is a timeless piece. Team it up with a pencil skirt or high-waist pants. A cosy cashmere knit is ideal for days in the office when you spend hours in air-conditioning. And a wool blazer that sits just below the hip is the most flattering. For a trendy touch, also invest in a leather midi skirt and a pair of white trousers.

Bling it on: When you choose jewellery to wear to work, select pieces that aren't distracting or noisy.
Try: Big, chunky pieces, such as a statement necklace or large cuff-style watch. Save the flash for after hours.

Best feet forward: Shoes may be comfortable flats and loafers, as well as pumps, but should remain closed-toe. Can be any colour, although black, brown, red, navy, and grey are among the most appropriate.

Red Hot: And finally, never underestimate the power of a red lipstick.
