30 minutes of activity, each day, for 30 days. Yes, the Dubai Fitness Challenge is back. This year's edition will be held from October 30 to November 28, and will feature a month-long calendar of free workouts and exciting fitness events.

Al Marmoom Dune Run, Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve

November 20; 6:30am onwards


This desert dune run will take fitness enthusiasts past scenic sandscapes and around the lakes of the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve. Organised by the Dubai Sports Council, the 5km race across hard and soft sand is open to those above 15 years and older. Participants can opt to run in either the elite category, which starts at 6:45am, or the open category, which starts at 7am. Al Marmoom is known for its flora and fauna comprising up to 500 flamingos and over 360 other bird species, so go wildlife spotting along the way. Registrations end soon, so hurry up and book a spot!

Hamdan Sports Complex Activities


Hamdan Sports Complex Fitness Hub, opposite Global Village

November 1-7; 6:00am - 10:00pm

The Hamdan Sports Complex, the Middle East's largest indoor sports venue, will be hosting a series of activities at no cost - simply register to take part in the action. Make the most of three Olympic pools, badminton courts, gym and sauna facilities. The week's activities will cater to all groups and experience levels, from beginners seeking a new sport to those seeking professional workouts - as well as families looking for a fun day out.

Grit + Tonic Triathlon: Hatta, Hatta Sports Club

November 13; 6:00am onwards

If you are an athlete looking for the ultimate sports challenge, the UAE's most trying triathlon, Grit + Tonic Triathlon, awaits you in Hatta. Experience the majestic landscape as you swim through the Hatta Dam, bike across the tarred roads of Generator Hill, and run up some of the steepest inclines to push your limits. Complete the course to receive race results and rankings to see how you perform against peers. Sign up in advance, as registration will not be available on the day of the event.

Sunday to Thursday: 2pm - 11pm

Friday to Saturday: 7am - 11pm

There are endless free activities to be found at Kite Beach during the Dubai Fitness Challenge - simply book ahead to enjoy the fun. The area is packed with incredible workout opportunities for every level, with a range of safety measures in place to keep you healthy. You>ll see plenty of your favourite play areas, all upgraded since last year. New this year, are trampoline workouts at Rebounder, and a Ladies Pavilion with facilities dedicated to women-only workouts. The Kids Camp also has a Skill & Play area with monkey bars and climbing challenges to keep your little ones active.

Spinneys Family Fun Run, Dubai Silicon Oasis

November 28; 7:00am

Looking for a family friendly activity that will help the little ones understand the importance of staying healthy? Consider signing the whole family up for a free community race. The third Spinneys Family Fun Run is inviting all ages and levels of runners to make the most of Dubai>s winter weather. You can start with the single 2.2km lap to get into the racing spirit or dial up the stakes on the 4.4km route. After you>re done, make your way to the Run Village to explore all the products on offer and enjoy a delicious snack.

Dubai Festival City Dragon Boat Challenge

Marsa Plaza Beach, Dubai Festival City

October 30-31; 7:00am

Head for the waters where all the action is, as the Dragon Boat Challenge returns to Dubai Festival City>s waterfront. The community sporting event will see corporate, university, school and community groups across the UAE take on a thrilling team-based watersport. Dragon boating sees up to 22 team members uniting to manoeuver a long, paddled watercraft. The sport originated in China approximately 2,500 years ago, stemming from folklore and rituals, and continues to be an entertaining activity across the world. Participate in the competition or cheer on athletes as they row to the finish line.
