A roadside bombing in Egypt killed two policemen and wounded 24 others on Monday, security and medical officials said.
The blast targeted a bus carrying conscripts in the Nile Delta province of Beheira early Monday morning, police Brig. Gen. Khaled Al Hameed said. Deputy Health Minister Alaa Al Deen Othman confirmed the casualty figure.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Attacks on police and military personnel have become increasingly common outside of the restive north Sinai, where the government has been battling an insurgency since the military overthrew Islamist President Mohammed Mursi in 2013.
Last week, a massive car bomb claimed by the local Daesh affiliate ripped into a national security building in a residential neighbourhood in Cairo, wounding at least 29 people and blowing the facades off nearby buildings.
