Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is considering to send overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Kuwait to China because of the alleged abuses that Filipinos face in the Gulf country.

According to CNN Philippines, Duterte made the remarks during his arrival speech after his trip to India. He said: "I will ask China to open its doors to us and I said to them that if you consider the Philippines, we would be glad to allow our workers to work here... All I ask is that, huwag ninyong abusuhin [don't abuse them]."
There are more than 250,000 Filipino workers In Kuwait.
Duterte made the remarks in light of the suspension made by the Philippine labour department - barring Filipino workers from working in Kuwait. Only those who already have a plane ticket and a worker's permit were allowed to bypass the suspension.
Kuwait responded to the Philippine president's suspension by saying that they regretted the remarks made by the head of state regarding the status of Filipinos in the country. They said that Kuwait enjoys "a bright image on treating expatriate workers and has laws that preserve their rights and organize their relations with the employers."
