#1. Maaz Al Kassasbeh was born to Safi Youssef Al Kasasbeh in a prominent family in Jordan in 1988.
#2. After graduating from King Hussein Air College in Jordan in 2009, he took additional F-16 tactics training with the Republic of Korea Air Force under a joint Korean-Jordanian exchange programme.
#3. He joined No. 1 Squadron at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in 2012.
#4. He fell into the hands of Daesh militants in December when his F-16 crashed near Raqqa, Syria.
#5. Following militant demands, Jordan government said it was ready to trade an Al Qaeda prisoner for Kassasbeh’s life.
#6. At the end of a video released by the militants Kassasbeh is purportedly shown wearing an orange jumpsuit and standing in an outdoor cage. A masked militant lights a line of fuel leading to the cage.
