Dubai — Team Valtorque clicked straight into gear with an impressive 34-run victory over the A-Rehab Club in its opening fixture of the Challengers Cup indoor cricket tournament in the combined Gold and Silver section.

Team Valtorque scored 79, a score that was due, in large measure, to the loss of just two wickets during the course of its innings. In response, the A-Rehab Club looked on course for a win when it reached 36 at the halfway point of its effort, but pressure that intensified with the loss of four wickets in the third quarter of the innings saw the balance of power swing towards Team Valtorque.

Sujith for Team Valtorque took three wickets for three runs but it was Faizan who was named player of the match for his all-round effort of two wickets at a cost of no runs, as well his side’s top score of 15.

Also in the Gold and Silver section in the latest round of matches, in Pool B SFS eased to a 19-run win against the Warriors, making it two victories from two starts. SFS lost just one wicket in scoring 74 and although the Warriors had reached 42 at the halfway stage of the reply, the loss of five wickets in the final six overs cost them dear and they eventually finished with 55.
