UAE Rugby has announced the 32-strong national XVs training squad ahead of the Asia Rugby Championship – a new competition from the Asian Rugby Football Union’s (ARFU).
Previously played under ‘Asian Five Nations,’ the restructured tournament aims to provide the continent’s rugby union teams with the opportunity to play more games against unions that have comparable levels of fitness and skill.
The top tier will be supported by a four-nation Division I contest and five other competitive leagues involving more than 21 ARFU member unions.
As a full ARFU member and active union, UAE Rugby’s national XV men’s team will compete in Division II against Chinese Taipei, Malaysia and Thailand in Kuala Lumpur next month.
To be played in a round-robin format over six days, the UAE’s campaign will begin on Sunday, May 10, with the second game played on Wednesday, May 13, and their final match on Saturday, May 16.
