The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters kept their promise again, as they have to audiences the world over for the past many decades, with a sterling performance in the third and final Dubai show of the 5-match road trip to the UAE.

They brought family fun and excitement to the 4,000 plus capacity DTS complex in what will certainly be an Eid to remember for many of us here.

The visitors had put up two shows at 7pm on Thursday and 2pm on Friday, prior to the last Dubai show. Friday’s event was once-in-a-lifetime experience for the many who turned up at the Aviation Club complex where they actually spent time on the court with the Globetrotters one-on-one — shooting, trying out ball tricks, autographs and photos.

Children enjoyed the inter-active preliminaries before the hotties from the US, the true home of basketball, dazzled the holiday crowd to a splendid 1 ½ hours of top rate entertainment.

The unique 30-minute pre-show, ‘Magic Pass’, creates memories of a lifetime. This year’s Globetrotters lineup includes Hi-Lite Bruton, Buckets Blakes, Special K Daley and Flight Time Lang.

The Globetrotters have in their original list, the 7’ 8” Tiny Sturgess (the Guinness World Record holder as the World’s Tallest Professional Basketball Player), 5’ 2” Too Tall Hall (the shortest Globetrotter ever), and female star T-Time Brawner.

Known as innovators of the game of basketball for decades, the next major road trips after the UAE stop will include a sapping north American leg that has Canada roped in. This is where part of their 2013 ‘You Write the Rules’ World Tour campaign will be tipped off, the website says. The tour lets fans determine the rules of the game that could affect the final outcome. This could be anything from playing with two basketballs at once, to getting double the points for each basket made.

Children are encouraged by the Globetrotters website to vote for which ground-breaking rule they want to see implemented in the game. Then, the lucky ones are given tickets, to see the winning rules in live action at the Globetrotters’ world championship game.

The ‘Your Write the Rules’ World Tour will begin on December 26, 2012, and will run through April 2013.
